
MCPHERSON -- The McPherson Police Department (MPD) is urging residents to follow the 9 p.m. Routine.
In a post this afternoon on the McPherson KS Police Department Facebook page, the department noted that during January 2021, it received nine vehicle burglary reports, resulting in eight thefts, and one stolen vehicle report, two business burglary reports, resulting in one theft, and one residential burglary report, resulting in in one theft. Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
According to the post, the stolen vehicle was recovered.
MPD also provided the following information about the incidents.
•Five out of the 10 vehicles were unlocked
•Four vehicle owners could not remember if they locked the vehicle doors
•One vehicle was locked
•Eight vehicles had personal items visible from the outside
•Four firearms were stolen and have not been recovered
•11 out of the 13 burglaries happened after 9 p.m.
"It only takes a quick minute for a burglary and theft to happen. Why make it easy? Please follow the #9PMRoutine by LOCKING your doors and REMOVING ALL valuable items!" MPD noted in the Facebook post.
