Abilene library receives $10,000 grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, celebrating America's birth

ABILENE - The Public Library in Abilene, has announced of receiving a $10,000 grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York (CCNY).

The grant comes from CCNY in celebration of America's upcoming 250th anniversary after the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The library received this grant as its listed as a Carnegie Library. 

According to a press release from CCNY published on Oct. 22, Carnegie Libraries across America received a $10,000 gift to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence through a special initiative announced by CCNY.

Abilene's library is one of more than 1,200 Carnegie Libraries still serving communities nationwide.
