Nancy “Ann” Velazquez, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Salina, Kansas, on Friday, June 20, 2025.
Born on July 2, 1953, in Shelby, TN, Ann was the beloved daughter of Lawrence R. and Edith C. (Robinson) Scott.
Ann spent much of her career working in housekeeping services at hotels and motels throughout Texas, where she was known for her strong work ethic and kind spirit. She made Salina her home since 1988, building a life rooted in love, friendship, and service to others.
She was united in marriage to Roberto M. Velazquez on Sept. 4, 1984. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2022. Their bond was one of deep devotion and enduring partnership.
Ann is survived by: Jacquita Fain of Salina, KS, Tom Fain (Maria) of Salina, KS, Jon Velazquez (Trish) of Salina, KS, Steven Velazquez (Abby) of Culver, KS, Amanda Purdham and David Purdham, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; and her dearest friends, Eric, Janet, and Mary Lou.
Ann will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her generous heart, and her unwavering love for those around her. She found joy in traveling, took comfort in helping others, and lived by the simple but profound principle of loving unconditionally.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 25, at the Culver Union Cemetery, 500 Coronado Road, Tescott, KS 67484. Father Eric Anderson will officiate the service.
