Richard "Ric" Riggs

  Richard "Ric" Riggs, 69, of Abilene passed away peacefully January 8, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born August 11, 1951 in Celina, Ohio, the son of Chester and Beatrice (Bolicks) Riggs.

He grew up around Elkhart, Indiana graduating from Jimtown High School in 1969.

Ric served 22 years in the Army, serving in Vietnam and Dessert Storm.

On February 14, 2004 he was united in marriage to Lorrie Kappel in Abilene.

Ric worked security at the Eisenhower after retiring from the Army.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lorrie Riggs of the home, five sons: Christopher Riggs (Angela) of Derby; Joel Pascall (Kara) Billings, Montana; Cody Riggs (Amanda) of Salina; Taylor Riggs and Logan Riggs both of the home, and one daughter, Coni Carroll (Kyle) of Lawrence, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Riggs (Cindy) of Elkhart, Indiana and one sister Charlotte Reel of Elkhart, Indiana.

Ric was preceded in death by his parents, brother Patrick Riggs and sisters, Judy Barnett and Jackie Geans.

Military Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Abilene City Cemetery with Pastor Stan Norman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials be given to the Wounded Warrior Project. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
