Semi-driver unharmed after truck is engulfed in flames on Tuesday

At approximately 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, a semi-driver narrowly escaped a fire that destroyed the entire vehicle.

A fellow semi-driver at the Petro Travel Truck Stop north of Interstate 70 in Salina noticed sparks near the side of the vehicle and quickly notified the driver, who escaped with his wallet and shoes.

First responders on the scene reported the driver was preparing for bed when the other driver notified him, and then the semi quickly went up in flames.

Salina firefighter and EMT Tagen Watson said there were no injuries caused by the incident.
