The Southeast of Saline baseball team worked another split with a 4A foe, this time in a pair of shootouts against the Chapman Fighting Irish.

The Trojans produced 13 runs in each contest, falling in game one 20-13 but rebounding to win game two 13-7 to move to 9-3 on the year.

The Irish built a massive advantage in game one, getting out to an 11-1 lead heading into the bottom of the third inning.

SES would battle back to extend the game scoring three runs in four of the next five innings but Chapman scraped across nine more in the same time to win the opener in convincing fashion.

The Irish picked up right where they left off in game two, getting out to a 7-0 lead in the first three frames, and allowing just one run to come across before the fifth.

With their backs to the wall, the Trojan bats exploded for a twelve-run inning that saw eight hits and five walks, punctuated by a three-run bomb from Evan Nickelson to help secure the unlikeliest of comeback wins.

All nine members of the Trojan lineup contributed a run or an RBI in the fifth and Drew Richardson looked dominant on the bump for Southeast, closing out the game with three innings of one-hit shutout ball.

SES will take the next week to rest up and reload before hosting Beloit for a league doubleheader on April 21.
