Brooklyn Velotta had a hat trick for the Coyotes and also added an assist as the Coyotes routed the Sterling College Warriors 6-0 on Wednesday night at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
The Coyotes led 1-0 at the half before opening the flood gates in the last 35 minutes of the second half.
The first goal of the second half came in the 55th minute by Velotta. It was a double-helper for the Coyotes as Isabella Galvan passed to Emily Martin who sent the ball over the top down the middle of the pitch to Velotta who outraced the Sterling defense and scored it.
Velotta scored again in the 73rd minute, this time off an assist by Valeria Lara who sent a ball through to Velotta who slid it home.
Rylie Moreno-Rojas scored in the 81st, assisted by Velotta on the play. It was on a set piece for the Coyotes on a corner. Velotta tried to score with a header that was saved by the Sterling keeper but it bounced right to Moreno-Rojas who knocked it in.
Paige Proper scored in the 84th off a direct kick following a foul by Sterling. She took the shot from about 25 yards out on the left side and put it home inside the near side post.
Velotta finished off her hat trick and the scoring in the 89th minute off another double-assister. This time Moreno-Rojas returned the favor on her goal to Velotta after she took a pass from Kylie Pappo on the back line.
The Coyotes wasted little time in getting on the board to start the match. Six seconds in fact. Lexi Jack played the opening kickoff sending it toward goal and over the head of the Sterling keeper and in, giving the Coyotes the early first minute 1-0 lead.
The Coyotes dominated Sterling in shots 30-3. Velotta led the way with seven. Moreno-Rojas had four. Galvan had the clean sheet in goal with two saves.
