On August 7, the Salina Police Department (SPD) officers responded to a burglary at a construction site in South Salina.
According to SPD Cpt. James Feldman, the alleged burglary occurred between 8 p.m. on August 6 and 7 a.m. on August 7, resulting in significant losses for two contractors working on the site.
"They discovered that subjects had gone through the construction site and from Helm Electric stole three rolls of number six wire, eight rolls of number 12 wire and a wire rack valued at $50," Feldman said. "Then they removed about 160 feet of wire from a junction box. So they were at a loss for $1,890 plus there was $300 damage for pulling the wire from the junction box."

A second private contractor reported that their white 2003 enclosed trailer had been broken into. The stolen items included multiple DeWalt impact drills and 11 DeWalt batteries.
Feldman said the total loss for this contractor was estimated at $1,680, with an additional $20 in damage due to the lock cut off the trailer.
The combined losses for both contractors totaled $3,570, with $320 additional damages.
Feldman said no suspects have been identified, and no video surveillance is available from the site.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Salina Police Department at (785) 826-7210.
