Coyote Men’s Indoor Track and Field finishes second at KCAC Championships

WICHITA - Kansas Wesleyan Men's Indoor Track and Field posted a second place finish at the KCAC Men's Track and Field Championships at the Heskett Center at Wichita State University on Friday and Saturday.

Wyatt Johnson was named the KCAC Male Track Athlete of the Meet. He finished first in the 800m and the 1000m and was part of KWU's KCAC champion 4x800m relay team and the 4x400m relay team that finished second.

KWU brought home eight KCAC Championships at the event. Kristian Paronto won the 60m dash, Johnson won the 800m and the 1000m, Austin Schaeffer won the mile, Evan Pearce won the 3000m, Jake Cruz won the 5000m, the Distance Medley Team team was KCAC Champions as was the 4x800m relay team.

Kristian Paronto was the KCAC Champion in the 60m with a time of 6.85 seconds. Kean Dinkel also made the finals, finishing third with a time of 6.94 seconds. DeJaylon Beal ran in the preliminaries finishing 20th with a time of 7.24 seconds.

Wyatt Johnson was the KCAC champion in the 800m with a time of 1:56.41. Nicolas Martinez was fourth in 2:00.42, Braulio Torres was sixth in 2:01.01, Triston Cottone was seventh in 2:01.12, Barka Bapeng Jr. was 10th in 2:03.01 and Logan Topp was 13th in 2:04.06.

Wyatt Johnson won the 1000m with a time of 2:27.27, hitting the NAIA A Standard in the event to qualify for the NAIA National Championships. Braulio Torres was seventh in 2:36.46, Nicolas Martinez was 13th in 2:40.24 and Barka Bapeng Jr. was 14th in 2:41.03.

Austin Schaeffer won the mile with a time of 4:23.68, Jake Cruz was third in 4:25.62, Damion Jackson was fourth in 4:27.10, Cohen Greve was 13th in 4:40.84, Efrain Santibanez was 22nd in 4:55.72 and Will Childers was 24th in 5:02.75.

Evan Pearce was the KCAC champion in the 3000m with a time of 8:50.91, Damion Jackson was sixth, Luke Adams was eighth, Tytus Reed was 10th in 9:07.58, Mauricio Mendez was 13th in 9:20.53, Austin Schaeffer was 14th in 9:22.02 and Ethan Ochana was 15th in 9:23.09.

Jake Cruz was the KCAC champion in the 5000m with a time of 15:05.23, Damion Jackson was fifth in 15:20.11, Evan Pearce was seventh in 15:24.72, Ethan Ochana was 10th in 15:29.07, Tytus Reed was 12th in 15:45.46, Mauricio Mendez was 13th in 15:08.01, Cohen Greve was 19th in 16:43.22 and Will Childers was 22nd in 17:45.28.

The 4x800m relay team of Nicolas Martinez, Triston Cottone, Braulio Torres and Wyatt Johnson were KCAC champion with a time of 7:50.63, hitting the NAIA B Standard and qualifying for the NAIA National Championships.

The Distance Medley Relay team of Nicolas Martinez, Triston Cottone, Jude Nelson and Jake Cruz were KCAC champion with a time of 10:40.84.

The 4x400m relay team of Kristian Paronto, Austin Hash, Kean Dinkel and Wyatt Johnson was second with a time of 3:25.37.

Keegan Lott was fourth in the shot put with a mark of 15.29m, Dylan Marks was 19th with a mark of 12.35m, Jamar Armstrong was 22nd with a mark of 12.00m, Brandon Weimer was 28th with a mark of 11.36m and Austin Baird was 29th with a mark of 11.26m.

Kristian Paronto made the finals of the 200m finishing fourth with a time of 22.36 seconds. In the preliminaries, Kean Dinkel finished 11th in 22.87 and DeJaylon Beal was 23rd in 23.66.

Triston Cottone was fourth in the 600m with a time of 1:22.92, Jude Nelson was sixth in 1:23.93, Trace Sump was 10th in 1:25.40, Logan Topp was 11th in 1:25.89, Brady Oliver was 12th in 1:26.89 and Andrew Smith was 16th in 1:29.25.

Austin Hash finished sixth in the 400m with a time of 50.62 seconds, DeJaylon Beal was 17th in 53.56 and Riley Garcia was 18th in 53.74 seconds.

Dylan Marks was seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 15.46m, Keegan Lott was eighth with a mark of 15.42m, Justin Barker was 10th with a mark of 14.34m, Austin Baird was 13th with a mark of 13.29m, and Brandon Weimer was 15th with a mark of 13.27m.

Xavier Solis was ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.96m.
