5 hospitalized after 4-vehicle crash

RILEY COUNTY—Four people were injured in an accident just after 8:30a.m. Monday in Riley County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2013 Nissan Sentra driven by Ella R. Thalmann, 20, Palmer was eastbound on U.S. 24 just west of Lasita Road.

The car came upon a a 2014 Ford Focus driven by Brian L. Shane, 61, Alta Vista and a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Paden G. Taylor, 21, Clay Center who were stopped to turn left onto Lasita Road. The Sentra rear-ended the Ford. The Mitsubishi was also involved in the crash, according to KHP dispatch.

After impact the Sentra bounced off the Ford and struck a westbound 2012 Dodge Ram driven by Trevor A. Clark, 33, Manhattan.

EMS transported Thalmann to Ascension Via Christi Hospital. EMS transported Shane and a passenger in the Ford Jacque L. Shane, 58, Alta Visa, to Stormont Vail in Topeka. EMS transported Taylor and a passenger in the Mitsubishi Martin R. Dylan, 23, Clay Center, to the Clay County Medical Center. Clark was not injured. All six were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
