MANHATTAN – Sophomore running back Deuce Vaughn joined an exclusive list in Kansas State history as he was named a Consensus All-American by the NCAA.

Vaughn is the 11th K-State player to ever receive Consensus All-America status and the first since Tyler Lockett in 2014. Others on the list include Jordy Nelson (WR, 2007), Terence Newman (CB, 2002), Mark Simoneau (LB, 1999), David Allen (PR, 1998), Martin Gramatica (PK, 1997), Chris Canty (CB, 1995 and 1996), Jaime Mendez (1993), Sean Snyder (P, 1992) and Gary Spani (LB, 1977).

To be in consideration for Consensus All-America level, a player must be named first team on at least two of the five selected All-America teams — American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America, The Sporting News and Walter Camp Foundation. Vaughn was one of three players that were tied to be named a Consensus All-American as an all-purpose player.

A product of Round Rock, Texas, Vaughn was named to the first team by the Associated Press and Sporting News, while he was a second-team member by the AFCA. Additionally, Vaughn was named a Second Team All-American by CBS Sports and USA TODAY, while he was an honorable mention pick by Phil Steele.

Vaughn enters the bowl season ranking fifth in the nation in scrimmage yards per game (144.1) as he is one of only two players with 1,000 rushing yards and 400 receiving yards this season. With 29 receiving yards in the TaxAct Texas Bowl, Vaughn can become just the fourth player in Big 12 history and third nationally in the last five years with 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in the same season.

A finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award and semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award, Vaughn enters bowl season ranked sixth in the nation with 144.1 all-purpose yards this year, and he is third nationally among active players with a 134.1 career mark.

K-State takes on LSU in the TaxAct Texas Bowl on Jan. 4, 2022, inside NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The game kicks off at 8 p.m., and will be televised by ESPN. Fans can purchase tickets at www.k-statesports.com/bowlgame.
