🏀 Sacred Heart splits showdown with Rossville at Irish Classic

Sacred Heart and Rossville meet in the Irish Classic on Friday night, with the Lady Knights falling to the Lady Bulldogs 64-57 and the Knights rolling by the Bulldogs 72-60.

Girls: Sacred Heart 57 Rossville 64

The Lady Knights found themselves leading nearly all the first quarter, backed by Edyn Sharpton’s 9 points. They catch the Lady Bulldogs off guard and lead them after one, 18-11.

Midway through the 2nd quarter the Lady Knights would find themselves down 17, backed by 5 triples from Rossville, Lady Bulldogs would out score the Lady Knights and were down 35-27 at the intermission.

Sacred Heart would claw back at the deficit and got it within 8, but the Lady Bulldogs and Rylee Dick would keep on the accelerator and lead 49-39 at the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Knights forced 5 turnovers in the fourth quarter, backed by a solid quarter by Emmy Lee, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Bulldogs would  pull it off 64-57.

The Lady Knights were led in scoring by Emmy Lee she finished with 17 and Edyn Sharpton finished her night with 13.

Rossville was led in scoring by Rylee Dick with 19.

The Lady Knights drop to 2-2 on the season and look to bounce back Saturday as they take on the Bishop Ward Lady Cyclones.

Boys: Sacred Heart 72 Rossville 60

On the boys’ side, Rossville had the #4 team in class 2A on the ropes for a half, but the Knights made the right adjustments in the second half and were able to pull away 72-50.

Sacred Heart would find themselves down nearly the whole 1st half until the 6:20 mark when they took the lead 20-18 and would push away from there leading 41-35 at the intermission.

Rossville in the third quarter would get into foul trouble early sending the Knight to the free throw line 8 times, going 7-8 from the charity stripe, the Knights would be leading at the end of the third 55-50.

Will Tuttle came out on fire in the final quarter, scoring 13 points and the Knights would be victorious 72-50.

The Knights were led by Will Tuttle he finished with 29 and Ben Disberger finished his evening with 10.

The Knights are 4-0 on the season and look to stay perfect taking on Bishop Ward Saturday.
