KANSAS CITY, Kan. — After last night’s game against the Houston Apollos, the Monarchs made a flurry of roster moves.

RHP Carson LaRue, who last pitched for Triple-A Sugarland in the Houston Astros’ organization, signed with the Monarchs. LaRue, 25, appeared in five games for the Skeeters and logged a 4.50 ERA in 16 innings.

LaRue previously attended Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, Kansas and Oklahoma State. He hails from Owasso, Oklahoma. He has 21 games of Triple-A experience in his career. The Monarchs expect to start LaRue on Sunday in the final game of the three-game weekend series.

To make room on the roster, RHP Justin Shafer was placed on the Injured List, retroactive to Aug. 25, and RHP Gunnar Groen was moved from the injured list to the inactive list.

The Monarchs are back at Legends Field tonight with game two of the three-game series against the Houston Apollos. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m. with the gates opening at 5 p.m. The games can be heard on the Monarchs Broadcast Network with the pre-game beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the video stream airing on aabaseball.tv.
