EL DORADO -- Earning a second consecutive individual race title, Cloud County Community College men's cross country sophomore Habtamu Geta would finish a full 27 seconds clear of his competitors while helping the T-Bird men to a third-place team finish at the 2020 Ollie Isom Invitational in El Dorado, Kansas on Friday.

Geta's victory comes as CCCC would finish the meet with a team score of 68 points to finish behind only host Butler Community College who won the meet with 47 points and Newman University who finished with 67 points as runners-up.

Posting a time of 23:24.48, Geta would be one of just two runners to run sub-24 minutes in the 8K race to lead the 54-runner field. Michael Iyali would earn his second-straight third-place finish by completing his race in a time of 24:19.38 while Linus Limo would post a time of 27:30.79 to take 13th. Rylan Cheney would also earn a top-15 finish by placing 15th (27:33.74) with Ryder Amos posting a time of 31:27.58 to complete the Thunderbird team score.

What's next?

Due to a recent schedule change, Cloud County will now have next weekend off before returning to action on Sept. 26 to run in the Tabor College Cottonwood Challenge which will take place in Newton. CCCC was originally scheduled to compete in the Muthama-Rogers Invitational in North Newton next weekend, but will replace the meet with the Bethel College Invitational on Oct. 10.
