Four girls from Concordia were returned to their parents after they were found in south-central Salina early Wednesday morning.

Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said this morning that officers were sent to the area of Quincy Street and Max Avenue just after 6 a.m. for a report of four juveniles who were asking for rides. When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old girl and three other younger girls who all were from Concordia.

About that same time, a vehicle from Concordia was found abandoned on Interstate 135 at the W. Magnolia Road exit, Hanus said. Police were able to connect the abandoned vehicle to the four girls. Hanus said, however, that police did not know how the girls got from I-135 to south-central Salina.

Requested charges against the 17-year-old include possession of stolen property and interference with a law enforcement officer, Hanus said.

Through the juvenile intake process, all four girls were returned to their parents, he said.
