The Salina Family YMCA has announced the hiring of Krista Linenberger as its new Sr. Director of Family Services, bringing with her extensive experience in education, youth development, and program leadership.
Linenberger joins the YMCA after serving as the Director of Elementary Programs for USD 305. Throughout her career, she has focused on creating positive learning environments and helping children develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed.
Her passion for working with youth began early in life.
“I started babysitting in high school, and during college I ran an after-school program at a YMCA,” said Linenberger. “I've always wanted to nurture kids and help set them up to live successful, happy lives.”
Linenberger said the opportunity to join the YMCA was a natural fit because of the organization's culture and commitment to serving the community.
“I was drawn to the team atmosphere,” she said. “I loved the culture of growing people, inspiring one another, and making a positive impact on the community and I’m thrilled for the opportunity to serve the community in a new way.”
In her new role, Linenberger will oversee the YMCA's childcare and youth development initiatives, with a focus on strengthening existing programs while preparing for future growth.
Among her top priorities are supporting staff through professional development opportunities, enhancing curriculum offerings, and continuing to build programs that help children become confident, capable, and school-ready.
Community engagement will also play a central role in Linenberger's approach. She encourages families to learn more about the YMCA's offerings and experience the programs firsthand.
“Come in and check us out,” Linenberger said. “We would be happy to give families a tour and show them everything we have to offer. Our doors are open, and we would love for people to come see what we're all about.”
With a strong background in education and a reputation for building meaningful relationships with children, families, and staff, Linenberger is expected to play an important role in advancing the YMCA's mission of youth development and community impact.
