September 15, 1979 - October 25, 2021

Reed Nelson Hardgrave, 42, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021, at McPherson Hospital. He was the vice president at Ferguson Production, Inc. where he worked for over 20 years. He was currently the assistant men’s soccer coach at McPherson College. However, he was an integral part of both the men’s and women’s soccer programs at the college for the past 20 years.

Reed was born on September 15, 1979, in Dallas, TX, the son of Joe Dan and Julie Ann (Holsapple) Hardgrave. He graduated from Lake Highlands High School (Dallas, TX) in 1998 and from McPherson College (McPherson, KS) in 2002. As a student-athlete, Hardgrave played for the McPherson College Bulldog soccer team for three years and was an NAIA Academic All-American.

On December 17, 2000, Reed was united in marriage to Sonya Renee Johnson in Moundridge. This union was blessed with three children, Logan, Caden, and Ellie.

Reed was active in the McPherson City FC, a local soccer club.

Survivors include: his wife Sonya and their three children Logan, Caden, and Ellie; parents Joe Dan and Julie Hardgrave of Dallas, TX; brothers Lane (Andrea) Hardgrave of Sachse, TX, Drew (Veralyn) Hardgrave of Cantonment, FL, and Blake (Marianne) Hardgrave of Plano, TX; mother-in-law Marjorie Johnson of Moundridge, KS; sister-in-law Charcie (Kristopher) Smiley of Houston, TX; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Peter Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at McPherson Church of the Brethren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 4, at McPherson Church of the Brethren with Rev. Jerry Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Lone Tree Cemetery, Galva.
