Salina South High School’s annual homecoming parade is set to take place tonight, beginning at Equity Bank on Santa Fe Avenue at 6:30 p.m. The parade will head south on Santa Fe, then turn east onto Crawford Street, ending at the Salina Stadium.

Following the parade, a pep rally will begin at 7:00 p.m. where the homecoming king and queen candidates will be introduced. This year’s queen candidates are Tamia Cheeks, Bethany Hicklin, Kamryn Watts, Sadie Xaysongkham, and Macy Yost, while the king candidates are Erik Franco, Sean Iselin, Carson Wellbrock, Jace Humphrey, and Luke Matto.

Tamia Cheeks
Tamia Cheeks

Tamia Cheeks is the daughter of Dr. Brandon Jamal Cheeks and Dr. Ralita Cheeks. Throughout high school, she has participated in basketball, volleyball, track and field, student council, Kilt Krew, Relay for Life, Black Student Union, Paw Mart, and the Belonging Committee. Outside of school, she enjoys painting, arts and crafts, and babysitting. Tamia plans to major in graphic design with a minor in art and a second language and is considering pursuing a sport in college.

Bethany Hicklin
Bethany Hicklin

Bethany Hicklin, daughter of Dean and Cherise Hicklin, has been involved in cheerleading, track & field, Link Crew, Relay for Life, the Belonging Committee, HOSA, National Honors Society, and FCA leadership. She spends her free time with her dogs, working as a CNA, reading the Bible, and pole vaulting. Bethany plans to attend the University of Kansas and major in chemistry.

Kamryn Watts
Kamryn Watts

Kamryn Watts, daughter of Tonya and Cleveland Watts, has participated in band, soccer, Relay for Life, and has served as a manager for the boys' soccer team. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, napping with her dog Luke, and shopping. Kamryn plans to attend Kansas State University to major in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Sadie Xaysongkham
Sadie Xaysongkham

Sadie Xaysongkham, daughter of Kam and Lindsey Xaysongkham, has been active in volleyball, softball, basketball, Kilt Krew, National Honor Society, Relay for Life, and FCA. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dog, as well as working at Scooters. Sadie plans to attend Fort Hays State University to study radiology.

Macy Yost
Macy Yost

Macy Yost is the daughter of Brian and Tami Yost. She has participated in basketball, softball, volleyball, Link Crew, Writing Center, Kilt Krew, National Honors Society, HOSA, and Relay for Life. Macy is also an altar server at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and works as a CNA at Pinnacle Park Nursing Home. She plans to attend Kansas State University and pursue a degree in the medical field.

Erik Franco
Erik Franco

Among the king candidates, Erik Franco, son of Jorge and Guadalupe Franco, has participated in football, track, and student council. He spends his free time working out, hanging out with friends, and eating. Erik plans to major in accounting but has not yet chosen a college.

Sean Iselin
Sean Iselin

Sean Iselin, son of Max and Jody Craddock-Iselin, has been active in football, swimming, track, and student council. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing pickleball and disc golf, working out, and fishing. Sean plans to study dental hygiene but is undecided on his school.

Carson Wellbrock
Carson Wellbrock

Carson Wellbrock, son of Brett and Kelly Wellbrock, has participated in soccer, the STEM Center, Link Crew, and National Honors Society. He works as a trainer at Chipotle and spends time with friends. Carson plans to attend Kansas University and major in chemical engineering.

Jace Humphrey
Jace Humphrey

Jace Humphrey, son of Amy Lauer and Lauren Humphrey, has participated in basketball, baseball, Kilt Krew, and National Honors Society. He enjoys spending time with family, golfing or disc golfing with friends, and watching movies. Jace plans to play sports in college and pursue a career as a physical therapist.

Luke Matto
Luke Matto

Luke Matto, son of Russ Matto and Heather Moravek, has been involved in soccer, student council, and has achieved Honor Roll throughout his high school years. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing with his cat Boobear, volunteering in the community, and spending time with Kamryn. Luke plans to play soccer and study computer system administration at an undecided college.

During the rally, the candidates will participate in games, and the football players will perform a dance routine. The cheerleading squad will also lead cheers and engage with the crowd.
