A Salina man who reported a theft found himself in jail once police learned that he had two outstanding warrants from Saline County District Court.

Troy Helzer, 38, of Salina, told police that a black and white E Bike that he had parked at the intersection of S. Clark Street and W. Walnut Street was stolen while he left the area for a few minutes, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning. The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. Sunday.
The bike was being rented from Mike’s Rent to Own and is valued at $2,775.
While police were speaking to Helzer, it was learned that he had two outstanding warrants from Saline County District Court for failure to appear. Helzer was arrested on the warrants, according to Forrester.
