
Tamyia Rae Brummett Hathaway was born on September 16, 1959, to Ronald and Sheri (Clinesmith) Brummett in Liberal, Kansas. She passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, at her home in Salina, Kansas. As a child, Tami lived in Liberal, Rolla, Dermot, and Wamego. While attending Rolla High School, she was recognized in the Who’s Who in American High School Students 1977 for cheerleading.
She graduated from Rolla High School then Brown Mackie College in Salina. She was united in marriage to David R. Hathaway on July 9, 1977, in Rolla, Kansas. Two children were born to this union, Kelsey Jade in 1985 and Morgan Ashley in 1988. Cameron James Hathaway-Perasso joined as the first grandson and Kyla Jade Chestnutt was the first granddaughter. All reside in Salina. Tami worked as an executive secretary in Salina until her retirement. She fought a victorious battle with colon cancer and never lost her sense of humor or grace. Tami loved being with her family and her dogs. She especially loved listening to her grandson sing. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her. Her kindness outshone any ailments her body may have shown in later years.
Tami was preceded in death by her brother, Robin Brummett, in 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Sheri Brummett, grandparents, Albert and Darline Clinesmith and Claude and Elsie Brummett, her in-laws, James and Blanche Hathaway and brother-in-law Craig Hathaway. She is survived by her loving husband, David, of the home, daughters, Kelsey Hathaway and Morgan Hathaway, grandchildren, Cameron Hathaway-Perasso, and Kyla Chestnutt, all of Salina, brother Karick (Phoebe) Brummett of Rolla, Kansas,
sister-in-law Shelley Hathaway of Cedaredge, Colorado, sister-in-law Liz Hathaway, Hugoton, Kansas, nephew Brad Timken, Ulysses, Kansas, nephew Kalen (Harley) Brummett of Hugoton, Kansas, Kyri (Quinten) Martinez of Yucca Valley, California, and Kylie Brummett of Rolla, Kansas and numerous cousins and other relatives.
Services are pending with Parkview Funeral Home of Manhattan, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and more information will be available at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials in Tami’s memory be sent to the funeral home at 1317 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
