MCPHERSON -- The McPherson County Health Department tonight announced 58 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the county total to 580.
Of that total, 408 have either met Kansas Department of Health and Environment recovery guidelines or have died, the health department reported. Additionally, six of the active cases are hospitalized and an additional person has died, the health department noted.
"MCHD is experiencing high call volumes and high caseload. If there is something you need from MCHD, please feel free to call and if we can’t get to you right then, please leave a message or email us. Email may be the quickest way to get ahold of us right now as most of our cases and contacts are holding up our phones during the day," Shalei Shea, health department director, explained.

• New cases since last public release: 58
• Asymptomatic: 30
• Cases with unknown exposure: 270
• Cases 60 years old and above: 171
• Cases 50-59 years old: 74
• Cases 40-49 years old: 83
• Cases 30-39 years old: 70
• Cases 18-29 years old: 124
• Cases under 18 years old: 58
• Female cases: 315
• Male cases: 265
• Hospitalized cases (may not represent current hospitalizations): 34
• Ventilated cases (may not represent current ventilated cases): 5
• Deaths: 8
