Community members in Salina and Minneapolis are invited to celebrate National Walking Day on April 1 by participating in local activities that promote walking, health, and community connection.

National Walking Day is recognized each year to encourage people of all ages and abilities to incorporate walking into their daily routines.

Local partners are hosting two opportunities for residents to get outside, be active, and experience the benefits of walkable communities.

Salina Walking Activity:

- Walk over your Lunch Hour (or after work).

- Take a picture of you or your group and post it to #salinawalks

Minneapolis Walking Activity

2:00 p.m. at Markley Grove Park

We will take a short walk around the trail in the park.  Hosted by Central Kansas Extension District.

“These events are a simple way to highlight how walking supports both individual health and community connection,” said Michelle Coats, Regional Mobility Manager. “Whether it’s a short walk or part of your daily routine, walking is one of the most accessible ways to stay active and engaged.”

These activities are part of ongoing efforts to improve mobility and walkability across communities by encouraging safe, accessible options for people of all ages and abilities.  Both events are free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to join at their own pace and comfort level.
