WICHITA, Kan. -- Josie Deckinger of Kansas Wesleyan University has earned this week's KCAC Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday. Student-athletes were selected for their performances from Sept. 18-24 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Equity Bank.
Deckinger was big as the floor general for the Coyotes in the 5-1 offense. She averaged 9.2 assists per set on the week, but played a key role in helping KWU beat McPherson and Ottawa. She had six kills against Ottawa in the five-set win and went for 26 hitting attempts in the match, trying to sneak a kill past the defense.
She had a double-double in both of those matches, and only played two sets against Hannibal-LaGrange as KWU won easily. This is the second consecutive week in which Deckinger has been named the KCAC Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week, and is the second time overall this season she has earned the award.
Wesleyan is on the road twice this week, at Tabor on Wednesday and at Saint Mary on Saturday.
