Caroline Decker, 89, of Salina, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020.
She was born May 9, 1931 to Alex and Rosalie (Legliter) Schaffer in Lacrosse, Kan. Known to her siblings as Charlene, Caroline was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She always carried starlight peppermints and told the best bedtime stories. During her younger years, Caroline served as a waitress and cook before owning her own bakery in Solomon, Kan. Later in life, she spent many years taking care of "old people" who were sometimes younger than she was. She had a generous heart and compassionate spirit that will truly be missed.
She is survived by her children Mike (Linda) Decker of Pittsburg; John Decker of Abilene; Bill Decker of Salina; and Mary (Jason) Walker of El Dorado, as well as 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two siblings: Dorothy Cavanaugh of Cottonwood, Arizona and Richard Schaffer of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Decker, her parents, and her siblings: Gene Schaffer, Benny Schaffer, Blanche Doonan, Ida Pfifer, Albert Schaffer, Johnny Schaffer, and Alice Schaffer.
