Saline Co. Sheriff's investigating scam, victims out over $45,000

Saline County Sheriff's are investigating a scam call, where a couple lost over $45,000.

According to the Saline County Sheriff's Office on January 30, a couple received a phone message from a financial technology company "Robinhood", that a PIN change on their cryptocurrency account was requested.

The message further stated if they did not request the change, they would need to contact a telephone number that was provided.

Afterwards, the couple contacted the number and spoke with a male with a British accent. Through the course of the conversation, the couple provided account information thinking they were updating and securing their account.

A few hours later, the couple checked their account and discovered 8 coins valued at $45,866 was taken from their account.

The couple reported this to the Sheriff's Office on January 31 and the investigation is ongoing.
