Regular meeting

The commission's regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Monday. A time for public comment is scheduled near the beginning of the meeting.

Commissioners are scheduled to consider a request to proclaim Jan. 17, 2022, as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Commemoration Day in the City of Salina. Sandy Beverly and Ramona Malone are scheduled to read the proclamation.

Commissioners also are scheduled to consider accepting the offered easement and restricted access dedications from Holm Real Estate Abilene, LLC, to serve the Holm Addition, a five-lot subdivision of a 9.42 acre tract of land located at the northwest corner of the S. Ninth Street/Water Well Road intersection.

Additionally, commissioners are scheduled to hear the second reading of a proposed ordinance to change the zoning district classification for the 9.42 acre tract from A-1 (agriculture) to PC-5 (planned service commercial with corridor overlay). The proposed ordinance was passed on first reading on Sept. 27, 2021, however, the second reading was put on hold until the property was platted.

According to information in the commission meeting packet, "since that time, the property has been sold to Holm Real Estate, LLC (Tim Holm) who has completed final platting of the property."

Other items on the city commission agenda for Monday include the following.

●Consider authorizing the city manager to enter into a copier and printer lease with Century Business Systems.

●Consider approving a resolution to provide COVID-19 paid leave from Jan. 3-Dec. 31, 2022.

●Consider approving an ordinance that would amend Salina Municipal Code to allow class A, B, and C general contractors to install swimming pools.

●Hear comments from outgoing City Commissioner Aaron Peck.

●Hear comments from outgoing Mayor Melissa Rose Hodges at the end of her mayoral term.

With the city clerk presiding, the commission then is scheduled to meet in an organizational meeting that will include the swearing in of Bill Longbine, Greg Lenkiewicz, and Mike Hoppock as commissioners. Additionally, commissioners will elect a mayor and acting mayor, and the new mayor is scheduled to make comments. Plaques of appreciation are to be presented to Peck and Hodges.
