Jeanette (Lindgren) Waage, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, journeyed to Heaven on Saturday, November 11th.
Born in Lindsborg, KS, on December 1, 1931, Jeanette was raised in Salina, and graduated from Salina High in 1949. She attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, where she received a bachelor’s degree in education and was homecoming queen in 1951.
Jeanette met her husband, Everett (Bud) Waage, while singing in Bethany’s production of Handel’s “Messiah.” The two were married in Salina in 1954 and would then live for more than 50 years on the West Coast, in southern California and Oregon, where they raised their four children.
Jeanette was always active in school PTA’s and in her church in Portland, Oregon, and taught Sunday school for more than 30 years. She also took part in her church’s prayer committees and Bible studies.
She moved back to Lindsborg in 2011, where she spent time with old friends and welcomed family visits.
Jeanette is survived by her four children: John, Jerusalem, Israel, Mark, Austin, TX, David (Rebekah), Lindsborg, KS, and Julie Franklin (Scott) Dundee, OR, along with 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bud, her parents, Arnold and Irene Lindgren, her sister, JoAnn Anderson, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 17 at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
A service celebrating her life be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 18 at Freemount Lutheran Church, 2511 8th Avenue, Lindsborg, with a fellowship time to follow. Private burial is at Elmwood Cemetery in Lindsborg.
