Area seniors earn honors from K-State College of Health and Human Sciences

MANHATTAN — The College of Health and Human Sciences at Kansas State University has selected its 2020 fall commencement outstanding senior award winners.

This year's outstanding senior award winners were nominated by faculty and staff in each of their respective programs.

Three different award categories are available. The Engagement Award is given to graduating seniors who have made exemplary contributions that impact the well-being of the community or individuals in the community. The Leadership Award is given to graduating seniors who have exhibited excellence in leadership and recognized for their contributions to the campus, the college, their program and professional organizations. The Outstanding Research/Creative Activity award is given to graduating seniors whose research or creative activity has made a significant contribution to his or her field of study.

The following students are receiving awards from the College of Health and Human Sciences:

Mikiah Dykes, hospitality management, Abilene, Engagement Award; Ashley Pieper, kinesiology, Atchison, Leadership Award; Erin Schmitz, communication sciences and disorders, Baileyville, Engagement Award; Geneva Fink, human development and family science, Chapman, Engagement Award; Breanne Burks, general human ecology, Hiawatha, Engagement Award; Brooke Ackley, communication sciences and disorders, Hutchinson, Research/Creative Inquiry Award; Emanuel Serrano, athletic training, Liberal, Research/Creative Inquiry Award.

From Manhattan: Ali Delort, early childhood education, Engagement Award; Molly Fiser, dietetics, Leadership Award; Erin Slattery, early childhood education; and Elise Wolf, personal financial planning, Engagement Award. Madison Altis, gerontology-human development and family science, Olathe, Engagement Award; and Dorothea Mies, nutrition and health, Engagement Award, and Mallory Paske, human development and family science, Leadership Award, both from Wichita.

From out of state: Alyssa Cohn, dietetics, Fort Collins, Colo., Engagement Award; Megan Wurst, communication sciences and disorders, Lamar, Colo., Leadership Award;Oziel Pruneda, kinesiology, Kansas City, Mo., Research/Creative Inquiry Award;Grace Brennan, kinesiology, Edmond, Okla., Engagement Award; and Taylor Farley, nutrition and health; Woodward, Okla., Engagement Award.
