Douglas Ray Muller, 68, passed away March 11, 2025, at his home in Tescott, Kansas. He was born on April 11, 1956, in Salina.

Doug’s childhood in Minneapolis, Kansas was often spent fishing, hunting or otherwise immersed in nature. After graduating from Minneapolis High School in 1974, Doug joined the Navy and continued his love of exploration and adventure around the world. It was a natural choice to go into the Navy as he was extremely comfortable in water. Many times, as a boy he scared the daylights out of his parents when he would sit on the bottom of a pool for long periods of time. Later in life, Doug also dabbled in construction, farm assistance, and trucking. Known for his infectious laugh, ornery streak, and big heart, Doug was also a voracious reader and quite intelligent on a variety of subjects. That comes as no surprise to those of us who were privy to his gift of gab. His arrival was always unmistakable, as his voice and iconic phrase, “Arrrghh, deep in the chest,” would instantly bring smiles to everyone’s faces. He went by many names, including Mule and Spacely, but the one he took the most pride in was Grandpa Doug.

The biggest lights in Doug’s life were his children and grandchildren.  He’s survived by daughter Jaimie (Deven) Ryan and their daughters Emmalee, Adalynn, Jaiden, Rebecca and Joanna; and his son Will (Danica Spangler) Carlson and their son Jagger. Doug is also survived by his siblings Kathy (Craig) McHenry, Marcia (KC) Carlson and Tom Muller, as well as the mother of his son, Jill Lambert

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Leo Muller, and grandparents, Will and Fanny Sanders and Charlie and Lois Muller, as well as the mother of his daughter, Cindy Siler. Doug’s life wasn’t always easy, but he always made the best out of everything. He made some very good friends and had a family who loved him.

He will be extremely missed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time. As per Doug’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of a memorial, please donate to your local VFW, museum, the NRA, or zoo and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467
