May 24, 1919 - September 28, 2021

After several years of declining health, Catherine Hazel Cline, of Salina, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the age of 102.

Hazel was born in Salina, Kansas on May 24, 1919, 11 days *before* women were given the right to vote. At the time of her conception, her mother, Josephine Anne (O'Shea)and Ellsworth Luellan Fleming were running a restaurant in Ogden, Kansas, the epicenter of the Spanish flu epidemic in America. Upon learning of the pregnancy, her father shut down the restaurant and moved the family back to Salina to keep them as far away from the sickness as possible.

On May 29, 1939, Hazel married Harry Cline in Salina.

She joined the workforce in 1959, in several retail shops. She retired from School Specialty after over 30 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Harriett Smith of Salina, Marlene Jahn of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Debra Lefort (Stan) of Assaria; and son Marvin Cline of Lindsborg.

She is also survived by grandchildren Lisa Smith, Scott Smith (Erin), Mark Smith (Cheri), Thomas Jahn (Debra), Donald Jahn (Tracy), Tammie Pittsley (Howard), Denise Baum (Darrell Beck), Matt Cline (Erin), Stephanie Lefort, Sherry Lefort (Virgil Searcy Jr.), and Christina Lefort. There are a total of 25 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild - a total of six generations.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harry Cline; infant daughter Linda Carol Cline; sons-in-law William Smith, Kenneth Jahn; and daughter-in-law Diann Cline.

Visitation will be Monday, October 4 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Funeral mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 4th at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina, Kansas.
