Obituary | Lois E. McKain of Delphos, Kansas | Wilson Family Funeral Home

May 30, 1924 - May 27, 2022

Lois McKain, daughter of Roy and Fern Tucker, of Salina, formerly from Delphos, passed away May 27, 2022, at Salina Regional Health Center, just three days shy of her 98th birthday.

Lois attended Pipe Creek Rural School and, yes, she did walk to and from school in wind, rain, sleet, and snow.

She attended Delphos High School and married Rex December 25, 1941, in Minneapolis, KS.  Lois first remembers Rex when she was a little girl standing in the seat of her parent’s car and seeing Rex walking in the ditch alongside of the road.  She said he didn’t even wave at her.

She earned an associate degree in accounting from Miltonvale Wesleyan College after her daughters graduated from high school.  She worked for Dr. Don Yowell’s dentist office until she offered to help Rex in the fields.  The next day she had a new 4010 John Deere tractor, and she worked the fields alongside Rex.  After retiring from farming, they wintered in their camper in Harlingen, Tx.

After the death of Rex, Lois moved to Salina.  She was a volunteer receptionist in the ICU waiting room at Salina Regional Hospital for several years.  Lois was a member the Delphos Methodist Church.  Her two greatest loves were the Lord and her family.

She is preceded in death by Rex, and sons-in-law Marlin Amspacker and Bob Dowlin.

She is survived by daughters Irene Amspacker, Kechi, and Patricia Dowlin, Glasco; grandsons Troy (Lana) Amspacker, Larned, Tracy (Tammy) Amspacker, Wichita; Monty Dowlin, Cheney, and Granddaughter Judy (Chris) Cowger, Liberty, Missouri; great-grandchildren Dylan (Jasmine) Amspacker, Colton (Annika) Amspacker, Wichita, Haley (Luke) Rust, Andover, KS, Katie, Cody, Callie, Kale Amspacker, Larned, Christopher Hale, Liberty, Missouri, Gerad (Samantha) Hale, Eudora, KS and Klair Cowger, Liberty, Missouri; great-great-grandchildren Sophie and Liam.

Services will be June 11th at 10 a.m. at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, KS with burial in Delphos Cemetery following.

Suggested memorials are the Delphos Alumni or the Delphos Public Library in care of the Wilson Funeral Home.
