Maxine R. Kelly, age 94, died on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Pinnacle Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salina, Kansas. She was born October 16, 1927 in Jamestown, Kansas to Lovell and Wanda (Collins) Lewis.
Maxine graduated from Jamestown High School in the class of 1945. She graduated from Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina, Kansas and was a licensed beautician after having completed beauty school.
She married Ross Kelly November 16, 1948 in Belleville, Kansas and they were one day shy of celebrating 71 years of marriage at the time of Ross's passing. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2019. Together they operated Kelly's Fine Foods in Glasco, Kansas from 1968-1990.
She was a member of Glasco United Methodist Church. She loved Glasco and volunteered for many community organizations and events. Maxine and Ross enjoyed traveling and especially watching their grandchildren participate in all of their events, sports, and activities. She enjoyed sewing and took delight in making items for her grandkids. She loved music and played the piano. She gave all of her kids and grandkids their first haircuts and they each received many trims after that.
Maxine is survived by sons Norman Kelly (Sherrie), Salina and Kyle Kelly (Vickie), Leavenworth; son-in-law, Brad Bryant, Silver Lake; 10 grandchildren, Jason Butler, Nikki Foley (Jeff), Bryan Kelly (Kay), Jessica Martens (John), Matthew Bryant (Amanda), Stephanie Bryant, Javen Kelly (Britt), Anne Kelly, Shancy Kelly, Kari Ebel (Seth) and her seven great-grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Nancy Bryant, and siblings Clyde Lewis, Lucille Ballard, and Bill Lewis.
It was Maxine's wish to be cremated. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Glasco United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dennis McAlister officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow in the Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, Kansas.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. at the Glasco United Methodist Church on Friday, November 12, 2021 with the family receiving friends during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Glasco United Methodist Church or the Glasco Community Foundation in care of the funeral home.
