
Marvin D. Greenberg passed away on November 30, 2025, at Parkview Nursing Center, Osborne, Ks at the age of 83. His parents were George and Grayce Greenberg. As a twin he and his sister, Sharon Pope, were born at Norton and raised in Selden, Kansas.
He attended school in Selden, graduating in 1960 from Selden High School. Following graduation, he attended Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, later known as Emporia State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education in 1964, his master’s in educational administration in 1968, and his specialist in education in 1969. He taught elementary school in Brewster, Ks for 5 years before becoming elementary principal at Golden Plains, Selden and Rexford. He also held positions at Wheatland: Grainfield, Gove, and Park Schools, St. Joseph’s Elementary, Oakley; Scott City, Shallow Water, Ks, and Smith Center Elementary School.
In 1969, Marvin and Louise Bosch were married in Russell, Kansas At the time he was elementary principal in Selden, Kansas. Several moves in school districts in Western Kansas with their home being in Smith Center in 1983. Marvin’s retirement included several rental properties that he took care of for many years along with gardening and volunteering. Over the years raising registered Persian cats occupied his life along with many rescued cats and kittens.
Marvin was active in Lions Club holding offices in the clubs he belonged to in Brewster, Grainfield, and Smith Center. He was District Governor in 1991-92 and 2001-21 for District NW and K. He held several positions at the district and state level, including Kansas Lions Band Foundation, K-I committee and other committees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, older sister, Phyllis Layher, and numerous aunts and uncles, and two nephews Survivors are his wife, Louise, his twin sister, Sharon Pope, Mankato; brother-in-law, Ray Bosch and wife, Sheila, Gorham, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews and their children, and his Lions family and friends.
