Surveillance video is being reviewed to determine who attempted to break into a west-central Salina business late Wednesday night.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning that someone attempted to break into The Arena, 427 S. Broadway Boulevard.

The owner of The Arena told police on Thursday that an alarm had gone off at the store at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. When the owner checked the business' exterior that night, he didn't see any indication of a break-in, Forrester said. When the owner arrived at The Arena on Thursday morning, however, he discovered that someone had cut or created a hole in the side of the business allowing access into the attic area. Additionally, a ceiling tile inside the store had been removed.

Forrester said it is believed that the alarm going off caused the burglar or burglars to leave the premises without stealing anything.

Surveillance video is being reviewed, he said.

Damage was estimated at $100.
