Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees across the country are continuing to work without pay throughout the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown and Friday, March 20 marks the 35th day.
However, that does not stop others in the community from helping fellow TSA employees.
Rande Repp, a Professor at Bethany College has stepped in to help meet the essential needs of local TSA employees.
According to Repp, TSA employees can only accept non-perishable goods and store gift cards.
They cannot accept cash, cryptocurrency or any sort of cash cards.
Especially with this week being Spring Break and air travel being active, Repp knows how important meeting the needs of TSA employees are.
"Most of the local colleges are in Spring Break, they are flying home and back, and they need the Salina Airport to be open," said Repp.
"We appreciate the important work TSA officers perform each day to ensure the safety and security of the traveling public," said the Salina Airport Authority.
Repp is actively collecting donations and you can email him at: rande.repp@outlook.com
Eagle Media radio station in Salina will be a drop off location for donations as well.
You can drop off donations at the radio station on 1825 S. Ohio Street.
