Abilene to celebrate its cowtown heritage during Chisholm Trail Days

ABILENE - Help Abilene celebrate its cowtown history during Chisholm Trail Days Sept. 3-4.

The sixth annual Chisholm Trails Days event will take place at Historic Old Abilene Town, 100 SE Fifth Street.

Included during the celebration will be vendors, cowboy poetry, live music, can-can dancers, gunfighters, re-enactors, and children's entertainment.

The Kansas/Missouri Draft Horse Pull is schedild for 7 p.m. Sept. 3. Tickets are $10 per person and the gates open at 6 p.m.

National cowboy poets Geff and Dawn Dawson are scheduled to perform on Sept. 4. The daytime events are scheduled for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under.

The Sons of the Pioneers are scheduled to headline the music offerings at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 4. The music portion of the celebration is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., with the gates opening at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person for the entire music event.

All proceeds are to benefit Historic Abilene, Inc., which operates Old Abilene Town.
