This year's Saline County Back to School Fair has a new date and a new location.
The annual event to ensure youth have basic supplies when they head back to school is scheduled in conjunction with USD 305's walk-in enrollment on July 26 at Salina Central High School, 650 E. Crawford Street.
Additionally, Salina CityGo will be providing free rides for families attending USD 305 enrollment and the Back to School Fair.
Back to School Fair
The Back to School Fair is scheduled for noon to 7 p.m. July 26. Please use the south entrance to Salina Central High School.
Local donations from businesses, foundations, churches, service organizations, and individuals fund this yearly event.
To qualify for the free basic school supplies, students must live in Saline County or attend school in Saline County; be a K-8 student in the 2022 – 2023 school year; live in households with income below 185% of the poverty level, or those receiving SNAP or TANF or qualify for free or reduced-price lunches, according to a news release from Back to School Fair organizers.
Additionally, personnel from Salina Family Healthcare Center are to be on hand to provide no-cost health services, including school and sports physicals and dental screens.
Following is the schedule for the Back to School Fair.
Noon to 6 p.m.: Pick up basic school supplies for qualifying students
Noon to 7 p.m.: No cost K-12 dental screenings, cavity prevention
5-7 p.m.: No cost K-12 school and sports physicals
3-6 p.m.: Community information booths and games
NOTE: Backpack packing is scheduled for 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday at Salina Central High School. If you would like to help prepare the backpacks for Tuesday's Back to School Fair, check in at the main north entrance off of E. Crawford Street.
USD 305 walk-in enrollment
Salina USD 305 is offering a one-day, walk-in enrollment for all schools and all students of Salina Public Schools.
The enrollment is scheduled for 11 a.m.-7 p.m. July 26 at Salina Central High School, 650 E. Crawford Street. Please use the E. Crawford Street entrance.
Help with the online enrollment process will be available at walk-in enrollment, according to information from USD 305.
CityGo rides
Salina CityGo is scheduled to provide free rides to families attending the USD 305 walk-in enrollment and the Back to School Fair on July 26, according to information from OCCK Transportation.
Passengers will need to tell the driver that they are going to enrollment and/or the Back to School Fair.
Salina Central High School is stop No. 40 on the Blue Route.
Buses will be at that stop at :50 after each hour during regular hours (6 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and at :20 each hour during peak hours (6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.), OCCK Transportation noted.
