Lloyd Florence went home on July 4, 2021. He was born May 20, 1946 in Junction City, Kansas, the son of George and Alice (Horne) Florence.
Lloyd was a veteran who served his country from 1965 – 1969 in the submarine service. He was a cook.
He married Marlene Hill in 1967; they had 54 wonderful years together. Lloyd enjoyed his museum and passing his knowledge of history to others. He loved visiting with and helping his many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by both parents. Lloyd is survived by his wife Marlene Florence; son Jeff Florence and wife Jennifer; daughter Lori Knight and husband Randy; sister Myrta Townsend and husband Robert; grandchildren: Toby Florence (Jen), Elizabeth Florence, Tori Master and Kate Masters; great-grandchildren: Max Olsen, McKenzie Olsen, Hayden Florence, Hudson Florence and Maverick Florence; and a host of friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 15, at Sawyer Funeral Chapel with a graveside service at Chalk Cemetery on Friday, July 16, at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be sent in care of Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St, Topeka, KS 66604.
