The Sacred Heart Knights hosted the Lyons Lions on homecoming night but came up just short, dropping their first loss of the season 23-14.
Dom Matteucci got the Knights on the board first, capping off a productive opening drive with a 14-yard touchdown run.
Lyons answered back on a 46-yard touchdown pass to tie the game, and extended the lead to 13-7 at the halftime intermission.
The Knights' passing game struggled in the 1st half, with zero completions on four attempts.
The second half could have been better, but several long completions were brought back by penalties. The Knights finished the night with five completions for 60 yards.
Matteucci led the way with three catches for 34 yards. Mason Wells had one catch for 22 yards, and Cruz Callico also had one catch for three yards.
On the ground, the Knights rushed for 166 of their 226 total yards, but it wasn’t enough to hold off Lyons in a tight 23-14 loss.
Sacred Heart drops to 2-1 while Lyons improves to 2-1.
The Knights will stay in town next weekend as they look to bounce back against the Republic County Buffaloes.
