Doris Arlene (Zahn) Bennett, 87, of Salina, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020. Doris was born September 24, 1932 in Miltonvale, to Otto C. and Cleo L. (Adams) Zahn. She married Bennie E. Bennett on April 15, 1951 in Hutchinson. They moved to Salina where she raised three daughters while attending Kansas Wesleyan University and Emporia State for her teaching degree. She then taught grade school in Culver and Salina. Later she went back to school for her LPN at Concordia and worked at St. John's Hospital.
Doris enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; Bennie; infant son, Richard E. Bennett; daughter, Christine Burpee; son in law, Ronald Burpee; grandson, David R. Burpee.
She is survived by her daughters, Sherri Ward and Mary Weeks; grandchildren, Jeramy Weeks, Jenny Bowers, Steven Ward, Cindy Berthiaume, Pamela Santos, and Richard Burpee; and many great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
