The next couple of days look to be sunny and warmer, however the possibility of snow, sleet and freezing rain is in the forecast for next week.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita, Saturday will be sunny and unseasonably mild with high temperatures around 60 degrees.

Sunday will be slightly cooler, though still mild for December with high temperatures in the 50s across central and eastern Kansas, NWS noted.

The unseasonable weather is expected to disappear as a winter storm system looks to impact central and eastern Kansas on Tuesday into Wednesday, bringing a chance of snow, sleet and freezing rain early Tuesday before transitioning to rain Tuesday afternoon, according to NWS. Then the rain will change to snow Tuesday night into Wednesday. Portions of central Kansas have the greatest potential for some snow and ice accumulations, NWS added.

"Please pay attention to later forecasts for updates and more specific information," NWS urged.
