Multiple proclamations and a de-annexation public hearing are among the items on the Salina City Commission agenda for Monday.
About the meeting
Study sessions and city commission meetings will take place in–person in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street, and via Zoom until further notice. Meetings also can be viewed at the City of Salina YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/cityofSalinaKansas.

If citizens wish to speak, either during the public forum or when the mayor requests public comment on an item, citizens attending via Zoom must raise their hands so that the meeting host can allow them to speak. Those who attend the in-person meeting will have the opportunity to speak at the podium.

In order for the commissioners to have an opportunity to review comments in advance of the meeting, please email your comments or questions by 5 p.m. the Sunday prior to the Monday meetings.
Regular meeting
The commissioners' regular session is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Commissioners are scheduled to consider the following three proclamation requests.
●Recognize June 18, 2022, as Dana Adams Remembrance Day in the City of Salina. Sarlet Sharpe, a member of NAACP and a student at Cottonwood Elementary School, is scheduled to read the proclamation.
●Recognize June 18, 2022, as Juneteenth in the City of Salina. Jackie Anders, founder of the Salina Juneteenth Celebration Committee, is scheduled to read the proclamation.
●Recognize June 2022 as Elder Abuse Awareness Month in the City of Salina. Brandi Bohm, domestic violence and elder abuse program manager at DVACK, is scheduled to read the proclamation.
Commissioners also are scheduled to conduct a public hearing and then consider approving on first reading a proposed ordinance providing for the de-annexation of the portion of the Chicago Addition lying west of the relocated Dry Creek channel.
Other items on the city agenda for Monday include the following.
●Consider approving a proposed ordinance on second reading that would amend and supplement Ordinance No. 22-11099 exempting certain property in the City of Salina, Kansas, from ad valorem taxation for economic development purposes pursuant to Article 11, Section 13 of the Kansas Constitution.
●Consider approving a proposed ordinance on second reading that would change the zoning district classification from R (single-family residential) to C-3 (shopping center) district on property located as the southwest corner of Magnolia Road and Highland Avenue.
●Consider approving a proposed resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into an agreement with Travelers for the renewal of the city's comprehensive property/casualty insurance program.
●Consider approving a proposed resolution that would authorize staff to submit an application on behalf of eligible local recipient agencies for the 2022 Kansas Emergency Solutions Grant Program.
