The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to see more drivers traveling well above the posted speed limit.

On Thursday,  KHP Lieutenant Craig Davis had an encounter with a 2011 BMW on Interstate 70, checking its speed at 151 mph, 76 mph over the speed limit, according to a social media report from the KHP.

As Lieutenant Davis moved to intercept, the BMW continued its high-speed journey until the Salina Police Department intervened, stopping it for going 94 mph near the city limits.

Since February 8, the KHP has recorded a number of others driving far over the speed limit, as shown in a social media report by KHP Trooper Tod Heilman.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported two traffic stops for 100-plus miles per hour within 6 miles in the same afternoon, and both vehicles had children in the car, according to a social media report Monday.

The resulting fine for Lieutenant Davis's efforts on Thursday alone amounted to $993, not including the second ticket from Salina Police.
