SPD names suspect in Tuesday murder of Salina woman

The Salina Police Department (SPD) has named a suspect in the murder of a Salina woman on Tuesday.

According to information released this morning by SPD, the department has investigated multiple leads in the homicide investigation since Tuesday.

"This has resulted in Nelson Gerrod Hull III being identified as the suspect in the killing of Courtney Ann Hoffman. An arrest warrant for murder in the first degree was issued by the Saline County District Court for Hull," SPD noted this morning.

Hull is described as a Black male, 35, 6'3" and 220 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo on the right side of his neck: Mi Familia, SPD noted.

Tuesday at approximately 11:42 a.m., Salina Fire Department EMS and SPD officers were dispatched to the 700 block of North Fourth Street for a report of the sound of gunfire and someone screaming.

Upon arrival, officers located a woman inside a vehicle at 731 North Fourth Street. The woman had a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead by EMS personnel.

The woman was identified as Courtney Ann Hoffman, 36, of Salina.

SPD noted this morning that law enforcement are actively seeking Hull, who should be considered armed and dangerous. SPD encourages anyone with information pertaining to Hull's current location to contact 911 immediately.
