If you're nearing age 65 or are dealing with insurance and financial issues for aging parents, you may want to check out the online Medicare Basics presentation from K-State Research and Extension.

Medicare Basics: New to Medicare is being offered via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 27 by extension educator Deb Wood, CFP®, Central Kansas Extension District, who also is a local SHICK counselor.

The free program will focus on the basics of Medicare, including eligibility, how and when to apply, costs, what is covered by the various parts, and how to fill the gaps. Programs available to assist low-income individuals also will be discussed.

"Anyone interested in learning more about the Medicare maze would benefit from the program, particularly those who are nearing age 65 or who help aging parents with insurance and financial matters," Wood noted in a news release.
