After an impressive 52-36 win over Sacred Heart last Saturday and some extra time off due to Tuesdays cancellation, the Southeast of Saline Lady Trojans will be looking for another win at Hillsboro.

SES will need another impressive performance from Karsyn Schlesener, who dropped a career high 29 points against the Knights on Saturday, but was by no means the only big contributor in that win.

“Karsyn did get going in that game but we did a great job of getting out in transition and a better job of rebounding and that wasn’t just her,” SES head coach Shauna Smith said.

The 1-2 Lady Trojans will have their hands full with a Hillsboro team that after dropping their opener to Sterling, won its next three games.

Hillsboro is led by senior point guard Teegan Werth, who played very well in the team's 49-35 loss to Southeast last season.

“She’s almost a clone of Karsyn,” Smith said. “Last year those two really went at it and it made for a really entertaining back-and-forth game.”

For SES, this will be the first of two games in two days, as the team will host Rossville on Friday, a great opportunity for a young team eager to get on the floor.

“It’s going to be challenging to play two games in two days with such a young team but to be honest at this point we really don’t care who or when we play, we just want to play,” she said.

While rebounding remains a focus for a small Southeast team that at times plays five guards, finishing on offense will be a big focus over the next two days.

“We have to execute on offense,” Smith said. “We’ve really focused on that during these last few practices, we can’t get complacent and just play one-on-one.

Tipoff is scheduled for 6pm at Hillsboro High School and as always, games can be heard on KINA (910 AM/107.5 FM) or streamed on Salina Post.
