Kansas Wesleyan's LaMyah Ricks has been selected as the KCAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in games for the Coyotes last week. Her selection comes from a pool of nominees by conference athletics communications professionals and is presented at the conference level by Equity Bank.

Ricks was a key part of the KWU defense that helped the Coyotes to two wins this week. She was huge in helping KWU hold off Evangel, as she defended the guard positions and limited the Valor guards to 3 of 18 shooting from 3-point range.

She also had four steals in the game. Against McPherson, she was again huge, helping the team hold McPherson to 24 percent shooting in the first three quarters. Ricks did not play in the fourth quarter of the McPherson game.

Last week's victories pushed the Coyotes to a 12-10 overall record and a 10-6 mark in the KCAC. The Coyotes play a pivotal game in Lindsborg on Wednesday, then hosts Ottawa on Saturday inside Mabee Arena.
