Abilene man's vehicle catches on fire after accident in Saline Co.

SALINE COUNTY - Two-vehicle accident in Saline County results in Abilene man medically transported, and his car destroyed after catching on fire.

According to the Saline County Sheriff's Office on Sunday at around 6:00 pm, two vehicles were headed eastbound on I-70 milepost 251, when an accident occurred resulting in one of vehicles catching on fire.

Reportedly, a black 2014 Hyundai driven by Lucas Burleson (21) of Abilene rear-ended a gray 2009 Ford Escape driven by Theresa Bishop (56) of Salina.

After the crash, Burleson went off the road and his vehicle caught on fire in a grassy field. Rural Fire District 5 quickly extinguished the fire.

Burleson was transported to Salina Regional Health Center for a leg injury he sustained.

Sheriff Roger Soldan stated Burleson was cited for Following Too Close and Unsafe Speed.

Soldan added Bishop received no injuries and there were no passengers in any of the vehicles.
