KEARNEY, Neb. - The Fort Hays State women's track and field team came away with its second team victory in as many events this outdoor season with a first-place finish at the Central Nebraska Challenge Saturday at Kearney High School.

The Tigers tallied five provisional marks and took home five first-place finishes individually.

Lyric Holman began her outdoor season where she left off indoors, winning two events and nearly recording two provisional performances. The sophomore won the 100m dash with a provisional time of 11.77 before winning the 200m dash with a personal-best time of 24.09. Her 200m time is well under the provisional threshold of 24.40, but with a wind reading of 4.4 the mark will not be recognized on the provisional list.

Alexandra Hart picked up yet another victory in the high jump, clearing the 5-8.5 bar to finish first for the seventh time this season. With her name already on the NCAA DII provisional list, the freshman took three good jumps at an automatic-qualifying height of 5-9.75 but failed to clear the height.

Summer Kragel was just behind Hart, finishing second after clearing an NCAA provisional mark of 5-6.

Freshman Addie Berens won the javelin throw with a toss of 141-1, surpassing the provisional threshold for the second time this season.

Laurel Haley posted another provisional mark in the hammer throw this week, placing fourth with a heave of 173-1. Her season-best mark sits at 178-3, accomplished two weeks ago in Emporia.

Elsewhere on the track, Emily Salmans placed first in the 800m run with a time of 2:15.99, with Faith Little just behind her in second with a mark of 2:17.73.

Chloe Stanley was second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.24 before she placed third in the 400m hurdles when she crossed the line in 1:06.96.

Abigail Stewart placed third in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:54.67.

At the end of the day Holman, Salmans, Hannah Wiebe and Stanley teamed up to place second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:55.33.

The Tigers are scheduled to return to competition next weekend (April 9-10) when they travel to Wichita, Kan. for the K.T. Woodman Classic, hosted by Wichita State University.
