Salina Police are currently investigating the report of an alleged stolen vehicle at Indian Rock Park.
According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on Sunday, July 13th at around 10:00 pm, officers were patrolling the area of Indian Rock Park (1500 Gypsum Ave.) and discovered a parked maroon 2000 Chevy Impala's 'tags were altered.' Officers on patrol approached the vehicle and found a 31-year old man and a 39-year old woman inside the car.
Police stated that after the officers questioned the man and woman, they learned that the 'registered owner was not inside the vehicle.' Officers then contacted the owner and according to SPD, the owner stated that their 'car should have been parked behind a business by Armory Rd.' and that they did not give 'anyone permission to use the vehicle.'
SPD stated that the man and the woman were not arrested as they expressed 'varying stories on how they obtained possession of the vehicle.'
Accordingly, the investigation is currently ongoing to determine how the vehicle was stolen.
